Resumen

Aunque el retraso mental (RM) es asociado habitualmente con lesión orgánica del cerebro desde el punto de vista de la Salud Pública, es mucho más imporante el impacto de las alteraciones nutricionales en la génesis del RM. La asociación entre desnutrición temprana y bajo rendimiento mental perpetúa el cúmulo vicioso de pobreza y retraso socioeconómico.

NUTRITION AND MENTAL RETARDATION
Summary

Although the mental retardation is frequently associated with organic lesion of brain from the point of view of the Public Health, it is much more important the impact of the nutritional alterations in the genesis of the mental retardation. The association between early malnutrition and low mental yield perpetuates the vicious spiral of poverty and socioeconomic disadvantages.
